The bird ecology is complex and interesting here but so is the human one!
This study of visitors to the Hunter Wetlands Centre used the knowledge of volunteers who worked there. Through workshops and observations, we ‘mapped’ the main groupings of people and their interests. Science students caring about bird strikes, wedding parties, toddlers on the boardwalk, visitors relaxing in the cafe.
Now there is a plan for activities and moving images within the Visitor Centre to engage this human complexity and match it with wetlands activities.
