Survey Design: Research brings a heritage project, grants and awards.

A handful of visitors for the 2014 ANZAC Day toursĀ  were surveyed in Christ Church Cathedral. They were moved by the stories and blessed by the feeling of space and light.

The responses of those visitors inspired the researcher to take on a different role, chairing a committee that over three years raised resources to conserve a flag from WWI that was forgotten and in tatters.

What a project! The craft of conserving it came from experts (Julian Bickersteth, Skye Firth). The awarding of four grants and the re-hallowing of the large, bright red Australian ensign was underpinned by the research evidence of visitor’s engagement with Cathedral heritage. The National Trust of NSW affirmed these efforts. They awarded our Birdwood Flag their top award for heritage objects in 2018.
